Cleves Primary School, in Newham, secured funding for an extension of six new wheelchair accessible classrooms to facilitate the school's stated aim of enabling the inclusion of children with disabilities and special educational needs.
MBP were appointed to provide design information for the footings of the Cross-Laminated Timber classroom block, and the connection to the existing building, as well as general civil engineering and refurbishment works across the existing facilities.
We worked closely with the project team to coordinate and finalise the construction details to enable the timber to be sent for manufacture within a compressed programme. The ground floor deck was designed as a piled raft, minimising the volume of material required, delivering an efficient solution, and was detailed to the CLT manufactures requirements.
